The balance in the grey colors of this piece is what really caught my attention. It's a good first impression of age and beauty.
***

COMPOSITION: Composition of the piece is well thought out. The main focus of the piece is centered on the middle line of the canvas but the curvature of the formation and the element breaking off the canvas add to the composition and make it more interesting.

ELEMENTS: The elements are well chosen. The textures of the rocks and the sand really add to the piece and offer the feelings of rough and smooth and bring added feeling.

USE OF MONOTONE: The balance of grays is beautifully done. There's a wonderful dark element that is brought into focus and framed by two lighter grays.

BACKDROP/FOREGROUND: Backdrop is beautiful and adds a wonderful framing device. against the rocks.

POSSIBLE MEANS OF IMPROVEMENT: From the title, the focal point does become more obvious but because the rock formation is so dark, it's a bit hard to spot at first. If the picture is shifted ever slightly, the center point will focus more on the rock formation that you're aiming for and the eye will far on them quicker.

OVERALL: Still a beautiful, solid piece and the grays are beautifully balanced and well blended. Beautifully done!
